About Josh Barber, MD


Dr. Joshua Barber was born in Fort Bragg, NC and is a graduate of Coe College, where he played baseball as a pitcher and triple majored in Biology, Psychology, and Neuroscience. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Iowa. His orthopaedic surgery residency was at the University of Missouri-Columbia and its affiliated Missouri Orthopaedic Institute, and he completed his training with a fellowship at the University of California-Davis in Spine Surgery.

Dr. Barber is fresh out of his Spine Fellowship and is in his first year of practice, with special interest in minimally-invasive spine surgery, motion-preservation spine surgery and outpatient spine surgery. He has been involved in orthopaedic spine education, presented at national conferences, published several research articles, and is currently a reviewer for the medical journal – Spine. He is Board-Eligible in Spine Surgery, an AO North America Spine Fellow, and is currently a member of the Lumbar Spine Research Society (LSRS), AO Spine, North American Spine Society (NASS), and American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS).
